The Portage Voyageurs left town Friday afternoon hoping to come away with at least a point in a big game against the Augustana Vikings.
But once again their efforts were not enough as Augustana took the game 6-4.
The Vikings scored in the first period and came back in the second with 5 more goals, Viking forward Quinn Amiel had 4 goals in the game to help lead his squad to their 7th victory of the season, the Voyageurs put up 3 goals of their own in the third but it wasn't enough to grab a much needed win.
Joshua Collins scored 2 goals and Cody Mapes and Colin Port had the other tallies in the losing cause.
It was another case of a game that should have been won by Portage, they outshot Augustana 36-28 and were and amazing 76% on the faceoff dot.
This upcomming weekend sees the Voyageurs travelling to Saskatchewan to play two games against Briercrest.
Weekend notes:
- Ian Hall did not play once again
- The Voyageurs were 0-6 on the man advantage
- MacEwan passed Portage in the standings after two wins over Briercrest

Hi Scott,
ReplyDeleteJust want to say thanks for the blog here. As a parent who is unable to get to the games it is nice to read the updates and latest news. Even when the boys are not being able to get the pucks to stick.
Keep up the great job. Although there are not alot of followers listed, I am sure there are a number who read this.
