Portage beats SAIT for 1st time in history

Taylor Morgan had what may go down as one of the biggest goals in earlier Voyageur history on Friday night.

At the end of the 2nd, it was 3-3, each team scored a PP goal in the 1st and each team also had two more man-advantage goals in the 2nd.

Miles Houston had two of those early Voyageur goals, Mick Pawlyshyn netted the other.

Taylor Morgan scored with less than two minutes remaining on Friday, Brock Munro tipped the puck up to Morgans' stick right in front of the net.

Scott Orth made 28 saves in the winning goal, Shane Lust and Geoff Rollins(2) had the Friday goals for SAIT.

Saturday was a different game with a lot of intensity, less penalties and more cheap stuff.

The two teams were tied 1-1 after the 1st, before the Trojans potted three goals in the 2nd period to lead 4-1.

Colin Port had two more goals in the 3rd but it wasn't enough, Clay Goodall scored late in the 3rd on the man advantage to stop the Voyageurs from getting any closer.

Scott Orth made 36 saves in a losing cause.

Weekend Notes:

- Matt Gray left the game Saturday after the 2nd with a bruised "lower body injury"

- Colin Port had a hat-trick on Saturday

- Ian Hall was once again held pointless

- Scott Orth is the Voyageur player of the week(again)

- Miles Houston had his first two goals as a Voyageur after missing the first half of the season.
