The Voyageurs were winners of an 8-6 tilt last Friday over the MacEwan Griffins.
Both teams were tied for points going into the 1st game for both squads following Xmas break.
MacEwan opened the scoring but the Voyageurs came back and controlled most of the game, fending off the Griffins everytime they tried to get back into it.
Brendan Lamb had a hat-trick in the big win and was also credited with the game-winning goal in the 3rd period.
Dexter Hamilton and Mike Fiorillo each had multiple point games for MacEwan who were unable to keep up with the Voyageurs scoring pace.
Leo Keefer, Matt Gray, Chris Glen and Cody Mapes(2) had the other goals Friday.
Scott Orth made 24 saves for the win but was not overly great in his 1st game in about a month.
Weekend Notes:
- Ian Hall was held pointless in the game
- Portage had 2 power-play goals in the contest
- The Voyageurs now prepare to host the SAIT Trojans, games at 7 on Friday and 3 Saturday.
