Voyageurs lose final exhibition contest

This past weekend the Portage Voyageurs were in Camrose for the final game of their exhibition schedule against the Augustana Vikings; It was a tough game for the Voyageurs, who were without their top two defenders, Kris Steedsman and Kirk Moore.

Portage managed to keep the game close through one period but were down several goals after the second and wound up losing the game 7-4, Chris Glen, Blair Hawes, Matt Foster and Shawn Jacklin were the Voyageur goal scorers, Glen with his first goal of the pre-season.

Augustana had the best Power-Play in the ACAC last year and proved they haven't lost their touch by scoring three man-advantage goals in the game; one of which on a 5 on 3.

The Voyageurs were forced to play a physical game against a big and strong Vikings team, Matt Gray and Kyle Peden will both miss their next game after both got into second periods fights on Friday.

The Voyageurs open their season on October 8th in Edmonton against Concordia, the home opener is Saturday October 9th as they host the same Concordia Thunder
