The Voyageurs were the big winners at the NAIT tourney this weekend, with three wins in three days.
The action opened with a monstrous 9-1 win over the Briercrest Clippers, Brock Munro had 4 points for the blue and green while forwards Darryl Gagnon, Jarvis Ducharme, Colin Port and Kevin Hanna all added goals of their own.
6'5 Former Defenceman Spencer Brooks showed how he can use his size to his advantage, netting two goals in the first of three games. Evan Kurylo was not tested much before the third period, where he made 15 saves to help preserve the win.
On Saturday the Voyageurs won a 9-7 shootout with the MacEwan Griffins.
Brock Munro had another big game with 5 points and his line-mate Colin Port did not disappoint with a hattrick.
Other goals came from Spencer Brooks(2), Matt Gray and Ian Hall.
Sunday brought forth another game with the Augustana Vikings, the Voyageurs seeking some revenge after a 7-6 loss on home ice the week previous.
The Voyageurs were able to win the game 5-2 thanks to a hattrick from Taylor Morgan, Cody Mapes also had 3 points in the victory.
Scott Oorth made 33 saves in the win.
Weekend notes
- 2nd year Voyageurs forward Chris Glen suffered an injury in Saturdays' game, he will be evaluated during the week, Glen did not play Sunday.
- The Voyageurs Athlete of the week is Brock Munro; Munro had 3 goals and 6 assists for 9 points and was +8 this weekend.
